Gettysburg wax figure museum closes, collection to be auctioned

After 60 years of operation, The Hall of Presidents and First Ladies Museum in Gettysburg has closed, and its wax figure collection is scheduled to be auctioned off.

The Hall of Presidents and First Ladies Museum of Gettysburg has closed after nearly 60 years of continuous operation.

The museum featured a collection that included a life-sized figure of every U.S. President and a one-third-scale figure of every first lady. The collection is one of a few in the country and was viewed by over one million people since 1957, according to a release from the museum.

Dedication, Remembrance days coincide in Gettysburg

All figures of U.S. presidents and first ladies will be auctioned, starting at 10 a.m. on Jan. 14 at the 1863 Inn of Gettysburg, located at 516 Baltimore St. A snow make-up date for the auction is Jan. 15. Two preview events will be held at the museum: noon to 5 p.m. on Jan. 8 and 4 to 8 p.m. on Jan. 12. The museum is located at 789 Baltimore St., Gettysburg.
